The South Central Regional Transit District (SCRTD) has completed the Las Cruces–El Paso Commuter Rail Feasibility Study, which evaluates the potential for establishing passenger rail service between Las Cruces, NM and El Paso, TX.
The study identifies strong regional potential for commuter rail, supported by population growth, cross-border commuting activity, and public interest. Key findings include projected ridership between 4,400 and 7,400 daily riders, a proposed 43-mile corridor utilizing existing rail infrastructure, and significant economic and mobility benefits for the region.
This study will serve as a foundational reference as SCRTD begins coordinating with regional partners on future rail planning efforts.
